Railway, highway and air traffic are on the transport agenda of Ashgabat and Astana

At the Turkmen-Kazakh talks in Astana, special attention was paid to cooperation in the transport and transit sector.
The parties agreed to take joint measures to bring the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway to full capacity, according to the website of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
“Against the backdrop of a break in established logistics chains, the demand for this route has increased dramatically. Therefore, we have instructed to prepare a joint action plan for the development of the highway,” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said at a briefing in Akorda.
Along with this, the heads of state discussed issues of deepening cooperation between the seaports of Aktau, Kuryk and Turkmenbashi. It was also about the construction of a new highway "Turkmenbashi – Garabogaz – the border of Kazakhstan."
The governments of the two countries also agreed to consider the possibility of resuming as soon as possible regular flights between the two countries, which have been suspended since the beginning of the pandemic.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev proposed to introduce a simplified visa regime for business trips of citizens of the two countries to give an additional impetus to business activity.
