Turkmenistan supports the efforts of the Russian Federation, China and other countries on Afghanistan

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, speaking on Friday at the Central Asia-Russia summit in Astana, said that Turkmenistan supports the efforts of the Russian Federation, China and other countries to resolve the situation in Afghanistan. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
“A separate topic on the international agenda is the situation in Afghanistan. I am convinced that the countries of Central Asia and Russia are equally interested in stability in Afghanistan,” the Turkmen leader said.
According to him, a peaceful, stable, developing Afghanistan is one of the guarantees for the security of the borders and citizens of the states of the region.
"In this context, Turkmenistan welcomes and supports international mechanisms for the political settlement of the situation in Afghanistan, the efforts of the Central Asian countries, Russia, Iran, China, UN missions in Afghanistan," the President stressed.
In his opinion, the most important issue is Afghanistan's integration into international and regional economic relations. In this regard, Berdimuhamedov noted that in recent years, Turkmenistan has initiated a number of major infrastructure projects with Afghan participation.
“They include: the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline, the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan high-voltage power transmission line, the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan fiber-optic communication line, railways from Turkmenistan to the Afghan direction,” the Turkmen leader stressed.
He emphasized that through the implementation of such projects, Afghanistan receives a strategic perspective of economic and social development, and will be able to realize its geographical advantages as a link on the continent.
