Ashgabat and Singapore discussed cooperation in the field of technology and other areas
14.10.2022 | 00:10 |On Wednesday, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, during his visit to Astana to participate in international events that are taking place in the capital of Kazakhstan this week, met with a delegation from Singapore led by Minister of the Prime Minister's Office Mohamad Maliki bin Osman.
The interlocutors noted the importance of contacts at the highest and high levels in the development of interstate relations and the promotion of previously reached agreements. “The parties also discussed topical issues of an international nature and bilateral cooperation, in particular, cooperation in the field of education, agriculture, transport, investment, energy, petrochemistry,” according to the information of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.
One of the most promising topics for the exchange of experience was the area of high technologies, in which Singapore has become an example of effective practices in creating innovation centers for the whole world.
The talks also discussed ways to develop contacts between the business communities of the two countries.
The first business forum "Turkmenistan-Singapore" was held in August 2019 during the visit of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to this city-state. Then a package of commercial agreements and memorandums was signed on cooperation in the chemical industry, textile industry, the banking sector, the transport segment, business circles and between economic universities.
