Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan: about the political week in Astana and the first state visit of the President of Turkmenistan

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan gave a briefing on Monday on the upcoming international events at the high and highest levels this week in Astana.
So, on October 12-13, the 6th summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) will be held with the participation of the first leaders of member states, observer states, observer organizations and other high-ranking officials. In total, about 50 delegations are expected to arrive, Kazakh Foreign Ministry spokesman Aibek Smadiyarov said.
On October 12, a regular meeting of the Council of CIS Foreign Ministers will be held in the capital of Kazakhstan. It is planned that the ministers will consider draft documents that are submitted for signing of the upcoming CIS Summit on October 14, as well as a meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of Government, scheduled for October 28 this year in Astana.
It is planned to adopt, in particular, the Action Plan for holding in the CIS in 2023 the Year of the Russian Language as the language of interethnic communication and the Plan of Priority Actions in the Field of Humanitarian Cooperation of the Organization’s Member States for 2023-2024.
The Council of CIS Heads of State will be held on Friday, it is expected to be attended by the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, as well as the Chairman of the Executive Committee - the Executive Secretary of the CIS.
Topical issues of interaction on the platform of the Commonwealth and a number of documents aimed at strengthening integration ties will be considered. It is planned that the heads of state will approve the Program of Cooperation in Combating Terrorism and Extremism for 2023-2025 and adopt a Statement on the development of cooperation in the field of culture.
In addition, a number of international agreements will be signed that provide for interaction between electoral bodies and on issues of combating corruption.
At the summit, a decision will be made to transfer the chairmanships of the CIS in 2023 to Kyrgyzstan and to hold the next meeting of the Council of Heads of State in Bishkek.
On October 14, Astana will host the Central Asia-Russia summit. During the summit meeting, the presidents of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Russia will discuss the prospects for cooperation in the six-sided format.
It is planned to adopt a Joint Statement of the Heads of State, which will reflect the priorities of regional cooperation in the Eurasian space in such areas as politics and security, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian interaction.
On the invitation of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the first state visit of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Kazakhstan will take place on October 15.
This visit is aimed at building up political, trade, economic, transport and transit, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, as well as the Kazakh-Turkmen strategic partnership.
“During the visit, the parties plan to discuss a wide range of issues, as well as topical issues on the regional and international agenda,” Aibek Smadiyarov said.
As a result of the talks, it is planned to sign a number of bilateral documents.
Also this week, state visits to Kazakhstan by the Emir of Qatar and the President of Turkey will take place.
