Spanish company intends to help Turkmenistan build high-speed railways

The Spanish company Ibertest offered to create a National laboratory for testing railways, which in the future will help create a network of high-speed railway tracks in Turkmenistan.
The proposal was made during the meeting of the parties at the International Exhibition of Transport Technologies InnoTrans 2022 in Berlin with the assistance of the diplomatic mission of Turkmenistan in Germany.
The test center will be used to improve, verify and test the main components used in railway networks. The establishment of the laboratory will also be an investment in training a new generation of engineers for the future development of Turkmenistan's railways.
At the same time, the new center will be able to provide services to nearby countries that do not have the necessary equipment for testing railways.
The implementation of the project will contribute to fulfilling the instructions of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to modernize the railway transport infrastructure to increase the country's transit and transport capabilities and further increase the volume of cargo transportation by rail.
During the meeting, representatives of Ibertest also noted that the company is interested in long-term investments in Turkmenistan, as the country has an impressive transport and transit potential and is located at the crossroads of the most important international transport corridors.
Ibertest has been successfully cooperating with the railway departments of Turkmenistan's neighboring countries, including Iran and Uzbekistan, for many years. For example, in 2020, the company signed a contract with Uzbek Railways, under which the National Reference Center for Railway Testing of Uzbekistan is being created.
