1,530 people have received Turkmen citizenship

On Friday, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a decree on the admission of 1,530 people to citizenship of Turkmenistan and a decree according to which 315 foreign citizens received a residence permit in Turkmenistan.
The documents were prepared on the basis of the Law of Turkmenistan "On Migration" and generally recognized international standards for the protection of human rights and freedoms, the evening news of the Turkmen television noted.
It was also announced that these 1,530 people who have received citizenship are representatives of 25 nationalities, and 315 people who have received a residence permit are citizens of 9 states and represent 23 nationalities.
The Head of State instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Migration Service and other relevant agencies to continue work on the registration of documents of foreign citizens and stateless persons who have applied for a permit to reside in Turkmenistan.
In general, over the past 15 years, more than 28 thousand people have received citizenship of Turkmenistan. 4,438 foreign citizens were given a residence permit in the country.
