New ambassadors of Romania and Germany set to work in Ashgabat

New ambassadors of two European countries – Romania and Germany – have started their work in Turkmenistan. On Tuesday, they presented copies of their credentials to Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov.
The minister held separate meetings with them, during which he congratulated the diplomats on their appointment and discussed the state of bilateral relations with them, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said.
Thus, Romania will be represented in the country by Ion Naval, who replaced Sorin Vasile Moldovan at this post. Naval held various positions at the Romanian Embassy in Azerbaijan in 2020-2021, worked in the diplomatic mission in Ukraine from 2008 to 2019. At the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he worked in the department of Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Speaks Russian, French, Ukrainian, English.
The new German Ambassador is Michael Uwe Bierhoff. He began his diplomatic career at the embassy in Ankara, then worked in Kyiv, Cairo, was a permanent representative in Beirut, Doha, in 2020-2021 he was Consul General in the Afghan Mazar-i-Sharif, and in 2021-2022 - advisers at the embassy in Sarajevo.
