Serdar Berdimuhamedov elected head of the National Olympic Committee

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov was unanimously elected head of the National Olympic Committee at a meeting of the General Assembly of the NOC of Turkmenistan on Tuesday.

The meeting noted the contribution of Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who has the title of Honored Coach of the country, to the development of Turkmen sports and the Olympic movement.

Among the latest achievements is the first Olympic medal of Turkmenistan, obtained in 2021 in Tokyo by weightlifter Polina Guryeva, who took silver.

Recently, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a resolution on the establishment of the Organizing Committee for the preparation of the national team for the 2024 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris. Now, training camps have been organized for Turkmen athletes on the basis of the Olympic Village and the Institute of Physical Culture and Sports in Ashgabat.

At a meeting of the NOC General Assembly, a report was presented on the activities of the committee in recent years and other organizational decisions were made.
