Turkmenistan to create an Organizing Committee for preparations for the Olympic Games-2024 in Paris

The President of Turkmenistan signed a resolution on the establishment of the Organizing Committee for the preparation of national teams for participation in the XXXIII Summer Olympic and XVII Summer Paralympic Games, which will be held in Paris in 2024.
In January 2022, the government of Turkmenistan was instructed to develop a program for the preparation of national teams for the next Olympic and Paralympic Games. In particular, the Ministry of Sports and Youth Policy of the country, together with a number of departments, was ordered to ensure the participation of Turkmen athletes in the main competitions of the four-year period, which will be held in Paris. This program provides for holding training camps at the facilities of the Olympic Village in Ashgabat and Avaza.
At the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, weightlifter Polina Guryeva made history as the first Olympic medalist in Turkmenistan. She won a silver medal in the weight category up to 59 kilograms.
For this achievement, upon arrival at home, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who then held the position of Deputy Prime Minister, handed over 50 thousand US dollars to the athlete, as well as the keys to a three-room apartment and a prestigious foreign car.
