Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the Minister of Defense of China

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met on Tuesday with a member of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, Defense Minister Wei Fenghe, who is visiting Ashgabat.
At the beginning of the meeting, the guest conveyed greetings to the Turkmen leader from Chinese President Xi Jinping and congratulated Serdar Berdimuhamedov on his victory in the presidential elections in Turkmenistan.
The Head of State and the Minister of Defense of China assessed the state of cooperation between the two countries in the political and diplomatic sphere, in the field of trade and economic cooperation, primarily in the fuel and energy complex, transport and communications, and in the technology sector.
Fruitful ties in the education system were also noted: Turkmen students receive popular specialties in Chinese universities, and higher schools of Turkmenistan have Chinese language departments.
Both states have similar positions in the international arena, primarily on the issues of peace and security, sustainable development of all peoples.
Turkmenistan is pursuing a policy of neutrality, peacefulness and good neighborliness, Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized, noting the country's great resource potential, which it strives to realize in the interests of all.
These principles underlie the Military Doctrine of Turkmenistan, which is purely defensive in nature and is aimed at ensuring the security of the state, protecting the peaceful and prosperous life of citizens.
At the same time, Turkmenistan is an active participant in the coordinated solution of important tasks at the international level, puts forward initiatives to form effective mechanisms for interaction.
China welcomes the neutral policy of Turkmenistan and fully supports its constructive international initiatives, Chinese Defense Minister Wei Fenghe said, noting that he was impressed by the country's achievements in socio-economic development, which he could see for himself in Ashgabat.
The meeting was held with the participation of Ambassador of China to Turkmenistan Qian Naicheng.
