Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov had a telephone conversation with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on Wednesday.
Calling the Turkmen leader, the Japanese prime minister first of all congratulated him on his convincing victory in the elections and on the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations, which both countries will celebrate on April 22.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that over these three decades, Turkmenistan and Japan have significantly expanded cooperation, both in the trade, economic and humanitarian fields. The interlocutors also emphasized the effectiveness of interaction on the platform of the Dialogue "Central Asia + Japan".
Together with Japanese partners, major projects were implemented in Turkmenistan. The participation of Japanese companies in the construction of enterprises in the chemical industry and the gas processing industry was mentioned as an example. In the same row is the use of Japanese technological developments in the development of the Turkmen electric power industry.
One of the topics of the conversation was the upcoming 4th Asia-Pacific Water Summit on April 23-24 in the Japanese city of Kumamoto. The Turkmen leader thanked Fumio Kishida for inviting him to this high-level forum and said that sustainable water use is the most urgent task of the entire international community, which must be addressed by joint efforts.
