The head of the CEC of Turkmenistan gave a briefing on the completion of the presidential elections

On Sunday, the head of the CEC of Turkmenistan held a briefing on the results of the early presidential elections held on March 12. The event was held at the Garagum Hotel in Ashgabat with the participation of representatives of foreign and national media, international observers.

Chairman of the Central Election Commission Gulmyrat Muradov noted that the elections were held with a high level of voter turnout, on a broad alternative basis and on the principles of democracy and openness: 9 candidates from three parties and initiative groups of citizens applied for the highest state post.

The CEC website hosted an online broadcast of voting from polling stations throughout the country, 2,726 national observers and 75 international and foreign observers from the CIS, SCO, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Organization of Turkic States, from a number of countries observed the course of the elections.

The presidential elections were covered by representatives of foreign media accredited in Turkmenistan, as well as foreign journalists who arrived in the country on invitation in response to their requests.

In the elections in Turkmenistan, out of a total of 3,460,080 registered voters, 3,362,052 people voted, which amounted to 97.17%.

On March 12 at 19.00 pm voting at polling stations ended, but information continued to come from foreign polling stations. The final results of the elections, within the terms specified by law, will be brought to the attention of the population.
