International observers arrive in Turkmenistan for presidential elections

Beginning March 9, international observers began to arrive in Turkmenistan to monitor the presidential election, which is scheduled to be held this Saturday.

According to the press service of the Central Election Commission, representatives of the Organization of Turkic States, the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and delegations of foreign countries will follow the voting.

Monitoring will also be carried out by employees of a number of diplomatic missions operating in Turkmenistan.

In total, it is expected that more than 50 international observers, registered by the Central Election Commission, will observe the voting.

The CEC also announced that 98,940 young people who have reached the age of 18 and have the opportunity to take part in the elections will vote for the first time in the March 12 elections.
