On Saturday, meetings of initiative groups of citizens were held in the Akhal and Mary regions, which nominated their candidates for the presidency of Turkmenistan, the official press writes.

At the forum in Akhal, Maksatmyrat Ovezgeldiyev, head of the sanitary and epidemiological service of the Babadaikhan district, was nominated as a candidate for the highest state post.

In 2007, he graduated from the Medical University of Turkmenistan and completed an internship at the sanitary and epidemiological service of the Akhal region. From 2008 to 2018, he held various senior positions of this structure in the districts of the region. In February 2018, he was appointed head of the sanitary and epidemiological service of the Babadaikhan district.

At a meeting of an initiative group of citizens in the Mary region, the director of the research and production center "Renewable Energy Sources" of the State Energy Institute Kakageldi Sariyev was nominated as a candidate for the presidency of Turkmenistan.

A mechanical engineer by profession, he graduated from the State Energy Institute in 1999. He began his career at the production association "Maryazot". Since 2001, after serving in the army, he held the positions of process engineer and metalworking engineer at the Machine-Building Plant of the Mary region, and since 2002, he has worked in various positions at the State Power Engineering Institute.

Early presidential elections in Turkmenistan are scheduled to be held on March 12, 2022.
