In Ashgabat, in the Museum of Fine Arts, the “digital” exhibition of paintings by Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio was opened, which became a wonderful gift in honor of the 25th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and Italy.
In this traveling exhibition, conceived by the Italian RAI Television Channel with the support of the Ministry of Culture, as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy, advanced technologies are used, that make it possible to reproduce accurately the canvases of the great painter.

“There is no doubt that even here, in Ashgabat, the innovation and a turning point in the art that Caravaggio identified in their creations, still continue to inspire people”, said Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Italy to Turkmenistan Diego Ungaro.
The exhibition was an excellent opportunity for connoisseurs of fine arts to come into contact with the work of Caravaggio, who bravely challenged conservative trends in art. The famous Roman master astonishes with his ability to express so dramatically the truth in a special manner of painting, which many tried to imitate.

According to the diplomat, this exhibition is another evidence that the Great Silk Road exists. After all, the works of an outstanding painter were previously presented in Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan, and then will go to neighboring Uzbekistan.
Many people even called the exhibition “impossible”, as the paintings of Caravaggio are scattered all over the world and are kept in various museums. Therefore, to collect them all in one place is not an easy task.

Someone idolized Caravaggio, and some another called him “danger” for painting. However, one thing is clear – there are still a huge number of fans of the work of the great painter all over the world.
