The meeting of cultural and scientific personnel of the CIS members in Ashgabat will be fruitful. It was announced at the opening ceremony by CIS Executive Secretary Sergey Lebedev. The delegates will discuss a number of issues such as mechanisms of interaction in the fields of culture, education, science, book exchange, archiving, information, mass communication, sports, tourism, as well activity with youth.
– The Forum has rightly become the powerful generator of new ideas, projects and initiatives in the humanitarian sphere. Its high significance is evidenced by the high level of delegates, as well as greetings to its participants received from President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
Why is it important? The humanitarian sphere is one of the pillars supporting the development of civilization, along with economics and politics. The support provided by political leaders and well-known scientists and artists contributes to strengthening and expanding the definition of “humanitarian contacts”. As Mikhail Shvydkoy, Co-Chairman of the Board of the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS Member States, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation on International Cultural Cooperation, noted, “we should not allow the future of our children to be un-humane.”
About 200 delegates from the CIS, Baltic countries and Georgia gathered in Ashgabat today to discuss the prospects for this future, establish bilateral and multilateral contacts, realize the humanitarian potential of the CIS countries by putting in into one system and preserving their national diversity.
What would be the outcomes of the forum that started today? First of all, new ideas for further partnership. At the opening ceremony and the media session, the Stars of the Commonwealth voiced the first ideas already in 2019: Honored Scientist of the BSSR, Academician, Professor Peter Vityaz the idea on creation of the Youth Platform at the Forum and the Kazakh poet Esengali Raushanov – on creation of the Union of Writers of the CIS countries.
The development of translation activities in the CIS countries is also at the focus of delegates. Those spoken noted the necessity for further development of the Russian language as the main language at the CIS space and for strengthening the positions of national languages. In this context, the national language programs received a positive assessment of the Presidium of the CIS Executive Committee and the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS Member States.
– It is worth to note that in the CIS countries, many speak Russian. It is the language of international and interstate communication, the language of the United Nations. We need it to make it easier to communicate and interact. At the same time, we should remember that language is the basis of culture. Therefore, the national languages of our fraternal peoples should be both preserved and actively developed. The Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS Member States provides every support for educational programs, projects and ideas in the field of maintaining the language balance in the CIS countries, Shvydkoy said.
The issues related to the development of languages and translation activities was also considered in the context of the discussion of the literary magazine “Friendship of Peoples”. Sergey Lebedev urged poets, writers, and literators to actively cooperate with the publication and present their works, so that as many people as possible could become acquainted with the pearls of the literature of the CIS countries.
