The youth team of Turkmenistan completed its first training session with another draw. The match against local FC Al-Shahaniya that took place at the Ahmed bin Ali stadium in Doha, ended in a 0: 0 draw.
This game has become the third for Turkmen football players as a part of preparation for the AFC U-23 Qualification. In the first match at the Academy “Aspire”, the team of Turkmenistan could not beat their peers from Qatar – 0: 0.
In the second match against the team of Kuwait, on the training field of FC Al-Arabi, it was also a 1: 1 draw. Shanazar Tirkishov, FC Merv, a player of the national team of Turkmenistan, scored the only goal.
The youth team of Turkmenistan is preparing for AFC U-23 Qualifications, which will be held in Tehran on March 22-6.
The Olympic team of Turkmenistan comprises of football players, who took part in the recent Asian Cup in the UAE. One of them is Mikhail Titov, forward of Ashgabat FC Altyn Asyr.
One of the key players of the “senior” Turkmen team, Ruslan Mingazov, hving impressed by the potential of the 21-year-old forward, noted that with proper motivation and hard training, Mikhail would be able to show up himself in Europe.
Turkmen team was drawn into the Group C with the teams of Iran (March 22), Iraq (March 24) and Yemen (March 26).
According to the competition rules, the eleven group winners and the four best runners-up, as well as the host team of Thailand, qualify for the final tournament, which will be held on January 8-2, 2020, in Thailand.
These matches also serve as the first stage of the AFC U-23 qualifiers for the 2020 Summer Olympics men’s football tournament in Japan.
