Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Sergey Lebedev highly appreciated the contribution of the Commonwealth Chairman in 2019, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the development of humanitarian cooperation in the CIS.
Speaking at a briefing on the results of the summit of CIS heads of states, Mr. Lebedev said that the extended meeting of Commonwealth leaders was brightened by a good awarding ceremony.
“The leadership of the Council for humanitarian and cultural cooperation of the CIS countries together with the Interstate Fund for cultural cooperation awarded the President of Turkmenistan the medal “For merits in the development of humanitarian cooperation”,” said the Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee.
He noted that in recent years, at the initiative of Turkmenistan, many important humanitarian events have been held in the country and in the CIS. Twice the regional centers of Turkmenistan – Mary and Dashoguz were awarded the title of the cultural capital of the Commonwealth. As part of the programs of the CIS cultural capital, cultural, educational and scientific figures from all countries of the Association came to Turkmenistan.
Mr. Lebedev also reminded the way school sports festival was held in Avaza.
“Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov himself in the conversation with me personally suggested, “Sergei Nikolaevich, let’s, Turkmenistan, will fully pay for the arrival of schoolchildren from the CIS countries hereways, 10 people from each country. And taking into account the fact that we have 11 countries in the CIS, respectively, 110 students from Commonwealth countries came to Avaza for a week,” Lebedev shared his memories at the briefing.
He also noted that the Olympic champion Irina Rodnina supervised the festival of school sport, and it was a great holiday for the children.
“Considering all these circumstances, the Interstate Fund together with the Council of Humanitarian Cooperation made such a decision, and today, under the rousing applause of all meeting participants, he was awarded this medal,” said the Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee.
