During today’s trip to Dashoguz, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with representatives of the Uzbek Diaspora, and then spoke by phone with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The telephone conversation between the heads of the two neighboring states was reported by the Turkmen State News Agency (TDH).
The Turkmen leader told his Uzbek counterpart about the meeting with the Uzbek Diaspora, whose representatives “take an active part in the political, economic and cultural life of the country.” The Presidents noted the common historical and cultural roots of the two peoples, confirmed their commitment to the traditions of good-neighborliness and friendship, and discussed important issues of Turkmen-Uzbek cooperation.
Besides, the heads of states, according to “UzNews” with reference to the press service of the President of Uzbekistan, discussed measures taken in both countries to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection and control over the development of the epidemiological situation, especially in the border territories.
It was paid an attention to minimize the negative impact of the pandemic on Uzbek-Turkmen trade, economic and humanitarian ties. The Presidents expressed confidence that joint actions will conduce to successful negotiation of all emerging difficulties and new challenges.
