Bayern Munich’s two players and Manchester City’s one football player were shortlisted for the 2019/20 UEFA Men’s Player of the Year Award.
UEFA has announced the names of the three-nominees shortlisted for the Year awards, which includes Manchester City mid-fielder Kevin De Bruyne, alongside Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandowski and goal-keeper Manuel Neuer, the UEFA website reports.
The shortlist of three players was selected by a jury comprising the 80 coaches of the clubs that participated in the group stages of the 2019/20 UEFA Champions League (32) and UEFA Europa League (48), along with 55 journalists.
It was a ten-player list. The Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo from Juventus, in particular, closed the Top-10, while his traditional rival for the UEFA Men’s Player of the Year awards, according to various versions, Argentine Lionel Messi (Barcelona) shared the fourth and fifth places with Brazilian Neymar from PSG.
The awards will be presented at the 2020-21 UEFA Champions League group stage draw ceremony, which will take place on October 1.
The previous Champions League finished with the triumph of Bayern, while UEFA Europa League was won by Sevilla.
