Liner “Peter the Great” prepares for Caspian cruise tour

At Astrakhan shipyard “LOTOS”, a five star cruise liner “Peter the Great”, which in 2020 will begin its first navigation, was launched, Russian media reports.

Ships of such class were not built in Russia for more than 60 years. Russian President Vladimir Putin gave the start of the construction of the ship on August 15, 2016, during video session.

Cruise tours on a new cruise vessel are already scheduled for several years ahead.

The ship will offer three cruise programs, which will connect the Caspian Sea and the Black Sea. The first program will be the 11-day/10-night route “Treasures of the East” with the starting and termination points in Baku and calls to the ports of Iran, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, and Russia. In winter, “Peter the Great” will move to the Black Sea, where the cruise “Adventure on the Three Seas” (14-day/13-night) will be carried out.

In 2021, “Peter the Great” will move back to the Caspian cruise program and later will start the route “Great Silk Road” from Baku to Moscow with calls to the ports of the Caspian Sea and Volga.

The liner would takes the first passengers on board only after works on its decoration and equipment are completed. It is reported the length of the four-deck vessel is 141 meters, the width is 16.5 meters. There are 155 comfortable cabins with a balcony, including luxury class. In addition, there are cabins for disabled persons both standard and luxury classes. Total ship capacity is more than 300 passengers.

Tourists will have access to several restaurants, bars, swimming pool, SPA-center and much more. In fact, the new ship will be a floating five-star hotel.
