Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov urged Afghanistan’s neighboring countries to assist in establishing dialogue in the country.
“We’re actively working on it. As for the United States, we support the agreements promoted by the United States in their conversations with the Taliban and the dialogue with the government,” the Russian diplomat said.
The Russian Foreign Ministry is interested that in Afghanistan, both Russia and the United States learn lessons from the experience that has been accumulated in this long-suffering country, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Sergei Lavrov said during the online session of the Primakov Readings forum.
Lavrov noted the effectiveness of the Russia-USA-China consultative mechanism, which helps to collaborate and determine specific directions for one side or another.
“It is done within the framework of the logic set by the Moscow format with the participation of all the neighbors of Afghanistan, without exception, are present, and the United States, and Russia, and China. It is absolutely optimal,” the Russian Foreign Minister added.
Lavrov also touched on the topic of drugs traffic from Afghanistan, the media says. He noted that reports are keeping on received, including via mass media, on influence of the United States and NATO on the black market and that unidentified helicopters have been seen in the sky of Afghanistan. Lavrov stressed that such reports are coming too regularly to be ignored. Such information needs to be probed and investigation is needed into, first of all, in the United States and Afghanistan.
