Kazakhstan starts production of Russian Vaccine Sputnik V

Kazakhstan launched production of the Russian Vaccine Sputnik V. This was reported in the press service of the Republic Government.

The Karaganda pharmaceutical complex will produce the vaccine. It is expected that the plant will prepare about 2 million doses of the Sputnik V drug.

“Mass vaccination with Sputnik V, manufactured in Kazakhstan, will begin in February 2021. First of all, medical workers, teachers, students, law enforcement officers, a contingent of medical and social institutions, as well as representatives of risk groups with chronic diseases will be vaccinated on a voluntary basis,” said the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan. He emphasized the special importance of localizing the industrial production of the Sputnik V Vaccine in the Republic.

It is worthwhile noting that the launch of production took place even earlier than it was planned. At the beginning of December, the press service of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev declared that this will happen only in early 2021. According to the Republic’s President, Russia plays “leading role in the global counteraction to COVID-19”, it was “the first in the world” to register a vaccine against this infection and began to vaccinate the population.
