The new head of the French Cabinet was appointed Jean Castex, said in a statement of the Elysee Palace. Earlier, it became known about the resignation of Edouard Philippe, who served as Prime Minister of France for three years.
Mr. Castex supervised the country’s exit from the self-isolation regime, imposed against the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic.
In 2008, Mr. Castex was elected as the municipality mayor of the commune of Prades in the South of France, then was Deputy Head of the administration of President Nicolas Sarkozy.
Earlier, on the morning of July 3, it became known that Mr. Philippe had submitted his resignation from his post, and French President Emmanuel Macron accepted his resignation.
