Turkmen fighter Shihazberdi Ovelekov won a Bronze medal in Greco-Roman Wrestling at the Asian Games in Jakarta. Performing in the Men’s Greco-Roman 87 kg, in the quarterfinals he met with Iranian wrestler Hossein Nouri (who became the gold medalist of the Games), and then challenged the third place with a fighter from Yemen.
He was quite aggressive – the fight was stopped with a score of 8: 0 before the end of the first minute of the round.
In the top five in the men’s 77 kg Greco-Roman Wrestling competition was also Shermet Permanov, who was defeated by South Korean wrestler Kim Hyeon-woo, current champion of Asia.
