Iranian cartoon film became the best animation film at the orthodox film festival

The Iranian short animated piece ‘Tangle’, directed by Maliheh Gholamzadeh was recognized as the best animation film of the XV International orthodox Sretensky «Film Festival «Meeting» devoted to the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, informs the official site of the Moscow Patriarchate.

The competitive program included 75 films from 11 countries, among which Belarus, Serbia, Sweden, Israel, and Switzerland. 50 more films were included in the out of competition program. According to the press-service of the government of the Kaluga region, a total of more than 300 applications were submitted from 18 countries. The film festival was held in 11 cities of the Kaluga region.

The prize of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the RF President in the Central Federal District had been given to the film «Generation of bisons» by director Sergey Varitsky; a prize of the governor of the region – the film «Russians in Lebanon» by director Andrei Sudilovsky.

The film “Escape from Moskvabad» Darya Poltoratsky became the best fiction film«, the documentary – «Do not leave here» by Vladimir Samorodov and Marina Trush, the animation – the Iranian animation film “Tangle” by Maliheh Gholamzadeh, a short game – by Mitriy Semenov-Aleinikov’s “Franka” Belarus picture, a television film – « Metropolitan Clement. A way to Christ» the Kaluga broadcasting company of “Nika”.

The special prize of jury awards went to the film “Lorik” of co-production of Armenia, Russia, Serbia, Switzerland, Sweden and Cyprus.

The picture “Tangle” was created by Maliheh Gholamzadeh – Iranian director, a script writer and artist. Black-and-white film simply bewitches: in it there is no word, but its heroine stridently damns the war transforming a light thread of her life in a mournful tangle of memoirs.
