We have long been accustomed to the fact that Iran is a major oil seller on the world market. And few people know that our southern neighbor is also a well-known player in the global flower market. Thus, the Islamic Republic in the first three months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 to June 20) exported a total of 2,356 tons of flowers and ornamental plants worth US $ 5.33 million. IRNA agency reported this with reference to the representative of the Iranian customs administration Ruholla Latifi. And this is in a pandemic, when it would seem, first of all, only the most necessary things are transported – food and medicines.
Iraq was the largest buyer of Iranian flowers during this period, with 1,543 tons of plants worth $2.39 million, the official said. The second line in the list of importers of Iranian flowers is occupied by Armenia, which bought 226 tons of plants, and Vietnam is in third place with 15 tons of flower products. In addition, the Netherlands, a recognized player in the global flower market, bought 5 tons of roses in Iran.
Also, Ruholla Latifi added that during the same period, Iran imported 28 tons of flowers and ornamental plants from Turkey, Germany and the Netherlands, for $ 121,172.
As you can see, beauty is not only a powerful force, it also costs a lot of money.
