At the Executive committee of the CIS in Minsk at the initiative of the Turkmen side a round table on the theme «On strategic economic cooperation of the state-participants of the Commonwealth of Independent States» was held.
Ambassadors, permanent plenipotentiaries of the countries, authorised and other bodies of the Commonwealth, management of the Executive committee of the CIS, leading experts of the Academy of Public Service at the President of Byelorussia and the Belarus State University of Computer Science and Radio Electronics took part in the event.
As was noted at the meeting, the conventional priority of the Commonwealth is economic cooperation which is based on carefully worked and large scale documents – Strategy of economic development of the CIS for the period till 2020 and the Contract on the zone of free trade.
The economic subjects were widely discussed and at the Ashgabat summit of heads of the states where the president of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov supported the giving of a new impulses to development of trade and economic relations in the Commonwealth. And the Declaration developed by joint efforts on strategic economic cooperation of the CIS state-participants to these purposes serves initiated by the Turkmen party.
The Commonwealth is capable to become one of the effective centres of trade and economic, transport-logistical, energy cooperation in Eurasia, and the Ashgabat declaration aimed at increase of competitiveness of the countries-partners across the CIS through the involvement in world economic relations and association of geographical and infrastructural possibilities, technical, technological and transit potentials of the states of the Commonwealth, urged to strengthen their positions in global economy. In this context at the “round” table in Minsk it was told about the Commonwealth’s role as the large economic subject, capable to realise large scale projects with coverage of space of the CIS and adjacent regions with it.
The Chairman of the Executive committee of the CIS Sergey Lebedev noted that fact that the Declaration on strategic economic cooperation was signed by leaders of all states participating in the session of the Council. In his opinion, it means that in it the general and national interests are balanced, the co-ordinated approaches and priorities of the further escalating of mutually advantageous cooperation are defined.
Lebedev especially underlined that in the course of Declaration’s preparation the Turkmen side as the initiator of this document, considered opinions of all CIS countries and organically accumulated a wide experience of development gained within the limits of the Commonwealth and perfection of economic interaction.
As he said, in the CIS work on document realisation in practice was already developed. In these purposes the Declaration’s substantive provisions are included in drafts of program documents of the Commonwealth being developed now – Concepts of the further development of the CIS and Strategy of economic development of the CIS for the period till 2030.
