In China, for the first time, an airliner with access to high-speed satellite internet on board has made a flight, reports Silkroadnews.
The plane that started off from Qingdao landed at Chengdu Airport. It was equipped with a simplified high-speed communication system based on China’s first and the only high-performance satellite in the Ka-band – “Zhongxing-16”, the internet speed at an altitude of 10 thousand meters amounted more than 100 Mbit/s.
The airliner carried out live broadcast of the flight in the air. The first-ever flight in the history of civil aviation of the country afforded an opportunity for passengers on board to use their mobile phones to access the internet and enjoy numerous entertainment programs.
