The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan hosted a meeting of the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Orazmyrat Gurbannazarov with the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Turkmenistan Akmaljon Kuchkarov, during which issues of further enhancing Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan cooperation in trade-economic sphere were discussed.
At the meeting, the great role of Turkmen-Uzbek Business Council, the agreement on which was signed following the bilateral summit in April 2018, was noted. It was emphasized that activities within the framework of the newly established format would further strengthen fruitful cooperation between the business communities of the two countries, as well as comprehensive promotion of mutual trade.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed on the agenda and other substantive aspects of the first meeting of the Business Council and reached agreement on the earliest possible timing and venue of the event.
Uzbekistan is one of the important trade partners of Turkmenistan. In 2018, Turkmen exports to Uzbekistan increased double due to new types of building materials, in particular – glass products.
The activity of the Turkmen-Uzbek Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation also promotes expansion of trade and economic cooperation.
