Since February 2019, world and European champion Ramazan Irbayhanov has become the head coach of the national team of the “free-style wrestlers” of Turkmenistan. For Turkmen athletes, the mentor conducts training camps in Makhachkala, in southern Russia, on the shores of the Caspian Sea.
The task for the Turkmen team today is to prepare for the U23 Asian Championship, which will be held March 21-24 in Ulaanbaatar, Irbaihanov said, noting that preparations for the games in Tokyo will continue.
To show good results at the Olympics, you need to have a solid base, believes Irbayhanov, so a rich calendar of performances for this year was drawn up for the national team. In particular, it includes three rating tournaments – in the Russian Caspian, Italy and Turkey.
The mentor of the Turkmen national team also noted that the guys are ready for a big job and they have a strong desire to learn, grow, achieve results.
Training sessions of the national team of Turkmenistan are held in the Hamidov sports school. In addition to Turkmen wrestlers, teams from Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan also train here, and this is a good opportunity for Turkmen wrestlers to try themselves in sparring with experienced rivals and learn from valuable experience.
