France celebrates Independence Day

Today France celebrates the national holiday – the Bastille or Independence Day. The fortress siege and capture is one of the greatest events in the history of mankind. It became a symbol of the political liberation achieved through the revolution, and the very word Bastille became nominal.

The central event of the important day for the French is considered to be a magnificent military parade, passing from the Place de l’Etoile through the Arc de Triomphe to the central Place de la Concorde. By tradition, the oldest military parade of Europe is received personally by the President of France.

In different regions of the country, local people take part in the traditional festival, watch the Firemen’s Ball and just spend an active day with the family. At the festivities end residents and tourists are to watch the colorful fireworks at the Eiffel Tower on the Champ de Mars.

On the holiday occasion, the Embassy of France in Turkmenistan organized a reception, where Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France Francois Delaus spoke in the official part.

France is one of the important trade and economic partners of Turkmenistan. The trade turnover between the two countries in 2018 amounted to 82 million Euros.

The largest French companies such as Bouygues, Vinci, Schneider Electric and others have been successfully operating in the market of Turkmenistan for a long time. In addition, bilateral cooperation is developing in the cultural and scientific fields.
