Foreign Ministers of Central Asia, Afghanistan and Germany will meet in Berlin in late January

Turkmenistan will take part in the Green Central Asia International Conference to be held in Berlin on January 28 at the level of the foreign ministers of Central Asian countries, Afghanistan and Germany.

The forum will address issues related to development of regional cooperation in such an important area as responding to climate change and mitigation of its consequences.

It is expected that during the conference the initiative of the German Government will be announced, which provides for the implementation of projects in such areas as environmental protection and biodiversity, water resources management, combating desertification, forestry, renewable energy and energy efficiency, the agricultural industry and land management.

The final document is expected to be signed following the forum.

In the second half of the year, Germany will preside over the EU Council, which last year adopted a new EU strategy for Central Asia. The strategy also applies to sustainable development, climate and environmental safety. The Green Central Asia initiative of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany is aimed at assisting the implementation of this strategy, starting with the conference of the same name in late January.

And the Central Asian Forum in Berlin will be preceded by Green Week, a world exhibition of food, agriculture and horticulture to take place in the German capital city on January 17-26.
