An international team led by Chinese scientists on Thursday released the largest-ever cosmological simulation, named "HyperMillennium", offering a powerful digital tool to explore cosmic evolution.

This simulation covers a vast cube with a side size of 12 billion light-years and uses 4.2 trillion virtual dark matter particles. By applying a technique called N-body numerical simulation, the team accurately recreated how large-scale structures in the universe evolved over 10 billion years.

In simple terms, they built a virtual universe inside a supercomputer, starting from just after the Big Bang and following the pull of gravity step by step.

This virtual cosmos allows researchers to "rewind time" and study how galaxies and other cosmic features formed.

By adding physical models of galaxy formation, the simulation produces a detailed catalog of galaxy positions, brightness and other key traits. This provides theoretical support for research into dark matter and dark energy, and also offers strong support for new-generation galaxy survey programs, such as the China Space Station Telescope and the European Space Agency's Euclid mission.

"We know that the universe began with the Big Bang. Since then, its structure has gradually evolved from a highly uniform state, forming increasingly complex structures and eventually taking the shape of a cosmic web. In the past, these structures could only be studied through computer simulations. This time, we used 4.2 trillion virtual dark matter particles to simulate evolving process of the large-scale structure of the universe, achieving sufficient precision and scope for practical applications,"said Wang Qiao, a researcher at National Astronomical Observatories of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Such large-scale simulations demand enormous computing resources, and the research team used self-developed software called PhotoNs, designed specifically for China's domestic supercomputers.

After more than 10 years of work on algorithms and optimization, the team achieved efficient calculations using over 10,000 accelerator cards.

The project consumed more than 100 million CPU core-hours and 10 million accelerator-card hours, and produced approximately 13 petabytes of raw and processed data.

"The success of this project marks another step forward for China in the field of computational cosmology, showing that China is now internationally competitive in this area," said Wang.

Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian officially confirmed that the updated Siri, powered by Google Gemini, will be released in the second half of 2026. This partnership will make Apple’s assistant much smarter and more human-like.

The key innovation is the use of Gemini models to create a “personal” Siri. The assistant will not only execute commands but also engage in meaningful conversations, better understand context, and adapt to the habits of its iPhone owner.

Exact dates are still undisclosed, but experts expect the release to coincide with iOS 20 in autumn 2026. Earlier, development faced challenges related to the accuracy of neural network responses, which led to delays. However, both companies now confirm that the timeline remains on track and the project is in its final stage.

The first details and demonstrations of the new Siri are likely to be revealed soon — at the WWDC 2026, which will begin on June 8, 2026.

Belarus has secured its place among the top four in the global ranking of the World Phygital Community. Strong performances at international tournaments have proven that the country’s representatives can compete on equal terms with the world’s top athletes as BELTA report.

At the recent Games of the Future held in Abu Dhabi, where athletes from 65 countries took part, Belarusian competitors demonstrated excellent preparation. Phygital sport requires versatility: athletes must be equally skilled in both video games and traditional sports.

The MinskHouse team stood out in particular. The squad won a bronze medal in tactical shooting and currently holds second place in the global ranking. Belarusian teams in phygital basketball and football also achieved high positions.

The federation is now actively preparing for the upcoming Games of the Future 2026, which will take place in Astana from July 29 to August 9, 2026. More than 900 athletes from around the world are expected to compete for a prize pool of $4.75 million.

Sony AI has introduced Project Ace — the first autonomous system capable of defeating professional table tennis players in real matches. The AI-powered robot won three out of five matches against elite players.

Table tennis is considered one of the most challenging tasks in robotics. This is due to the extreme speed and unpredictable spin of the ball, which is very difficult to calculate within fractions of a second.

Thanks to a system of nine cameras and sensors, Project Ace tracks the ball’s trajectory in 3D. This allows the machine to instantly adapt to spins of any complexity.

During the matches, the robot demonstrated superior technique. It scored twice as many points on direct shots as professional athletes and returned more than 75% of the most difficult hits.

Project lead Peter Dürr called this achievement a milestone moment. Unlike computer games, this requires AI to have perfect coordination of movements in real physical space.

Today, April 24, a large-scale cultural event — “Biblionight-2026” — will take place in Belarus. Around 150 libraries have prepared special programs that will begin after regular working hours. Reading halls will transform into interactive spaces featuring science shows, workshops, and creative meetings.

This year, the event is dedicated to several important dates, including the 65th anniversary of the first human spaceflight. The program also supports the Year of Women declared in the country, aimed at recognizing the role of women in modern society and preserving family values.

The main venue will traditionally be the National Library in Minsk. The event will start at 7:00 PM with an opening ceremony. Under the slogan “Space of Meanings,” guests will be offered dozens of activities — from chess tournaments and Mafia games to expert consultations and meetings with writers.

At the “Literary Kitchen”, aspiring authors will learn how to publish their books. For those interested in style and public speaking, the “Women’s Space” will host fashion shows and speech technique lessons from well-known presenters.

One of the highlights of the night will be stargazing. On the 23rd floor of the National Library, visitors will be able to observe the stars through a telescope from an open observation deck while enjoying live music.

“BiblioNight” is an excellent example of how modern libraries are becoming attractive hubs for young people and families. Readers have the opportunity not only to explore new books but also to gain new knowledge and skills for free in an unusual, interactive environment.

On the sidelines of the Regional Environmental Summit in Astana (RES 2026 EXPO), the results of the Astana Eco Film Festival were announced. While the jury deliberated on the professional awards, a film from Turkmenistan captured the hearts of the audience. The Audience Choice Award went to the documentary "Children of the Sun and Water" by Bekdurdy Amansaryev.

While many of the competing entries focused on contemporary challenges, this film—produced by Turkmenfilm—offered viewers something more: a vertical journey through time. The film explores the water-use culture of the Turkmen people, spanning from the Bronze Age to the present day.

The focal point of the narrative is the legendary Margiana—the fifth center of world civilization. It was here, at the Gonur Depe archaeological site, that the philosophical and ethical foundations of Zoroastrianism took shape—a system in which the purity of water and earth was elevated to the status of supreme sanctity.

Viewers were captivated not only by the visual aesthetics of the footage—filmed in the pristine, protected corners of Turkmenistan—but also by the film’s profound intellectual depth. Running like a golden thread throughout the entire film is a piece of ancient Eastern wisdom:

"Just as the life of a tiny insect depends upon the boundless Universe, so too does the infinite Universe depend upon that tiny insect."

This film is not merely an environmental manifesto; it is a warning. The words voiced in the film—serving as an appeal to our contemporaries: "If the harmony of the cosmos remains undisturbed, then all of existence will unfold in accordance with the laws of the Creator" — have resonated deeply with an international audience weary of the dry statistics found in environmental reports.

The film gained particular credibility through the participation of world-renowned luminaries in the fields of archaeology and history. Reflecting on the significance of Victor Sarianidi’s discoveries and the legacy of the country of Margush are Nadezhda Dubova, Doctor of Historical Sciences (Russia), and Professor Matthias Wemhoff and Dr. Anton Gass (Germany). Their involvement confirms that Turkmenistan today is not merely addressing contemporary water management challenges; it is also carefully safeguarding the keys to understanding how humanity survived in harmony with nature thousands of years ago.

It is worth noting that "Children of the Sun and Water" represents a deeply personal artistic statement. Bekdurdy Amansaryev served not only as the film’s director and screenwriter but also as its composer; the original score—written specifically for the film—creates that very meditative atmosphere which allowed festival audiences to feel themselves part of a single, living stream of history.

Chinese scientists have discovered and identified the 11th new lunar mineral, named Cerium-Magnesium Changesite, according to the China Geological Survey on Wednesday.

The newly discovered Cerium-Magnesium Changesite is colorless, transparent and brittle, exhibits a glassy luster, and shows a distinct fluorescence effect. The grain size ranges from approximately three to 25 micrometers, typically less than 10 micrometers, which is roughly one twenty-fifth of the diameter of a human hair.

"Why it is new is that when it was formed, it experienced two different conditions. The physical condition was temperature and pressure, while the chemical condition was its element content. The discovery of a new mineral in extraterrestrial space would indicate that conditions once existed beyond Earth that have never occurred on our planet. If the same mineral is later found on Earth, it would suggest our planet once experienced similar conditions, allowing us to use it to infer and compare broader geological and celestial activities," Che Xiaochao, associate researcher of the Institute of Geology of the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences.

The Cerium-Magnesium Changesite was found in the first lunar meteorite falling in China. It is a single spherical meteorite with a weight of 44 grams and a dark molten shell on its surface.

An expert said that the discovery of new minerals from lunar meteorites can not only broaden people's understanding of the universe, but also provide new formulas for the field of synthetic materials.

"Cerium-Magnesium Changesite is found to have a fluorescent effect, which has promising potential applications in producing LEDs. Its rare earth element ratio, its magnesium and iron content, as well as the characteristic changes in its crystal structure, can provide important references for synthetic materials," said Qu Kai, a member of the Commission of New Minerals and Mineral Names of the Chinese Society of Mineralogy, Petrology and Geochemistry.

On April 22, the Summit of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS) was held in Astana. The event reinforced Uzbekistan’s status as a regional leader in environmental issues: from 2027 to 2029, the chairmanship of the Fund will pass to official Tashkent. At a time when water scarcity in the region could triple by 2050, Uzbekistan’s strategy is becoming critically important for all of Central Asia.

Domestic reforms: from conservation to digitalization

Uzbekistan has elevated water resource management to a top state priority. The key figures are impressive:

• Technologies: In recent years, the area of land using water-saving irrigation has increased from 28,000 to 2.6 million hectares.

• Digitalization: The “Smart Water” system has been introduced at 13,000 facilities, enabling real-time monitoring of resource consumption.

• Result: By 2030, systemic measures (such as canal concreting and new technologies) will make it possible to save up to 15 billion cubic meters of water annually.

Reviving the Aral Sea region and the “green belt”

The Aral Sea problem is being addressed through practical measures. Around 2 million hectares of forest plantations have already been created on the dried seabed. This not only helps contain toxic dust but also restores local flora. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s initiative to transform the Aral Sea region into a “Zone of Environmental Innovations” has received official support from the UN.

Regional partnership and dialogue

Uzbekistan is actively promoting the principle of “water diplomacy” by building constructive dialogue with neighboring countries. Within this framework, issues related to the operation of major reservoirs and the construction of new hydropower plants are being addressed jointly with Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan. An initiative has also been put forward to declare 2026–2036 as the Decade of Rational Water Use.

An important step toward strengthening regional stability is the gradual involvement of Afghanistan in regional cooperation. This approach is aimed at ensuring fair and transparent distribution of the Amudarya’s water resources based on a balance of interests among all parties.

Uzbekistan’s upcoming chairmanship in IFAS will enable the introduction of unified water management standards, helping protect Central Asia from climate risks.

Turkmenistan’s National Museum of Wildlife has welcomed new residents. Two ten-year-old male lions, a lioness of the same age, and a two-year-old female cub have moved from Shymkent to Ashgabat, CGTN reports.

After a journey of 1,500 kilometers, the whiskered newcomers are now exploring their new environment. According to regulations, during the first month the animals are kept in a separate enclosure hidden from visitors. This allows the predators to adapt to new smells, sounds, and diet.

The exchange of animals between zoos in CIS countries not only delights visitors but also helps preserve the genetic diversity of rare species. For now, access to the enclosure is restricted to veterinarians, but soon the quarantine will be lifted and the lion family will officially welcome their first guests. Previously, the museum had only one lion.

Shirin Berdyeva, an employee of the National Museum of Wildlife: “Travel is always stressful for wild animals. But our colleagues from Kazakhstan prepared everything perfectly. They even shared the names: the males are Aitmaz and Kaitmaz, and the females are Nana and Nona. The relocation went smoothly. The predators are currently under mandatory quarantine.”

Veterinarian Meredali Khojanazarov: “These majestic cats were vaccinated by our Kazakh colleagues in advance. We are conducting tests and monitoring their temperature. Their condition is normal, and their appetite is excellent. I believe the adaptation will go well.”

This week, London marked the 100th anniversary of the birth of Queen Elizabeth II. To commemorate the occasion, a unique exhibition was opened at the King’s Gallery in Buckingham Palace. Visitors can explore more than 200 personal items that shaped the monarch’s recognizable style over decades. The exhibition demonstrates that each of her public appearances was a carefully crafted diplomatic gesture.

Experts highlight five iconic outfits that became symbols of an era:

1. Tweed and tartan: a symbol of stability

The famous Balmoral jacket-and-skirt ensemble remained unchanged for decades. It conveyed reliability and a commitment to tradition, showcasing the high quality of British craftsmanship beyond fleeting fashion trends.

2. The 1953 Coronation Dress: a political manifesto

Made of white silk, the dress is embroidered with emblems of the Commonwealth of Nations—from the Canadian maple leaf to the Indian lotus. It stands as a masterpiece of diplomacy, with every detail symbolizing respect for Britain’s allies.

3. The green “Eisenhower” dress: a tribute to the United States

For her 1957 visit to Washington, D.C., the Queen chose an apple-green outfit. Historians interpret this as a subtle reference to America (“the Big Apple”), aimed at strengthening ties during the Cold War.

4. The “kingfisher blue”: on the threshold of new fashion

This elegant 1960 dress marked the final note of a classical style before an era of change. The bright blue color emphasized calmness and helped the Queen stand out in crowds, inspiring trust.

5. The transparent raincoat: practicality and openness

The plastic raincoat of the 1960s illustrates how the Queen adapted to everyday realities. Its transparent material served a key purpose: ensuring that subjects could see her even in the harshest English weather.

Today, these outfits are no longer just garments but part of world history. The exhibition in London offers a rare opportunity to see how impeccable style and attention to detail reveal the secrets of the royal wardrobe’s “soft power.”
