Exhibition of painting “Turkmenistan – an oasis of inspiration” kicked-off on Friday at the St. Petersburg House of Nationalities. The event became a creative dedication to the International Neutrality Day, which in Turkmenistan is celebrated by representative forums and festive celebrations.
The exposition of paintings by Turkmen artists St. Petersburg was the continuation of the exhibition held in the Historical Park “Russia is My History” as part of the presentation of the book of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov “Turkmen Alabay”.
The works of Turkmen painters reflect the divers nature of national culture – its color and aesthetics, way of life, history, images of legends and epic stories. The avant-garde techniques of composition and expressive writing techniques come together with reverence for the original ancient traditions in an attempt to reflect the spiritual core of the nation.
The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the Government, heads of national and cultural associations of the city, teachers and students of universities of St. Petersburg.
Elena Kuznetsova, Director of the St. Petersburg House of Nationalities, was awarded a letter of gratitude on behalf of the Society of Turkmen Culture “Mekan” for many years of contribution to the development of culture dialogue between Turkmenistan and St. Petersburg, while the government of the city appreciated the enormous contribution of the public organization to bring cultures closer and popularize Turkmen traditions in northern capital of Russia.
Representatives of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University and St. Petersburg State Agrarian University noted that Turkmen students are actively involved in the cultural life of St. Petersburg, by promoting the values of Turkmen culture through love and respect for the national heritage.
Activists of the “Bagtyyarlyk” Council of Turkmen Students performed a kushtdepdi dance as a concert number. In addition, in the Green Hall of the House of Nationalities, an exhibition of traditional Turkmen clothes and decorative and applied arts works was organized. Upon completing the official part, the guests were treated by festive dastarhan.
The event is organized by the Department of the World’s Humanitarian Association – the Society of Turkmen Culture in St. Petersburg “Mekan” with the support of the St. Petersburg House of Nationalities and the Committee on Interethnic Relations and the Implementation of Migration Policy in St. Petersburg.
