Presidents of Turkmenistan and Turkey Berdimuhamedov and Erdogan discussed issues of cooperation, including through the fuel and energy sector by telephone on June 2nd. The Turkish leader invited his Turkmen counterpart to take part in the opening ceremony of the Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline (TANAP), TDH reports.
TANAP is part of the “Southern Gas Corridor” project, which involves transporting “blue fuel” from the Caspian region to the countries of the European Union. According to some experts, the connection to this project of Turkmenistan, which has huge reserves of hydrocarbons, will help increase its profitability.
The telephone conversation also touched upon the development of the Turkmen-Turkish transport and logistics cooperation, including the use of the recently launched International Seaport in the city of Turkmenbashi, and other issues of mutual interest.
