Dutar is nominated for the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity

The UNESCO Secretariat registered a nomination for inscribing a complex of traditions associated with dutar in the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity: the very making of this musical instrument, playing it and the art of bakhshi.

This nomination is expected to be considered at a meeting of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee on the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in November 2021.

Currently, within the framework of interaction with UNESCO, work is underway to prepare nominations for inclusion in the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity of the traditions of breeding and training Ahal-Teke horses and breeding Alabai dogs.

Earlier, the epic “Georogly”, the art of singing and dancing “kushtdepdi” and Turkmen hand-made carpet weaving were included in the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
