The Azerbaijanian delegation headed by the Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov will hold a series of talks and meetings during the official visit to Turkmenistan, the Azerbaijanian Foreign Ministry’s press service reported.

In addition to meeting with President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, it is expected, that Mammadyarov will hold talks with the Deputy Prime Minister, the head of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry, Rashid Meredov and other members of the Turkmen government.

During the Turkmen-Azerbaijanian negotiations, issues of bilateral partnership in the oil and gas sector, as well as in the field of transport, including railway and sea, will be discussed.

The Azerbaijanian delegation includes representatives of key branches of the country’s economy: oil sector, railway industry, shipping and international sea port of Baku.

Experts believe that during meetings of Turkmen and Azerbaijanian officials, the issues of laying the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline along the Caspian seabed will be considered also. This pipeline is necessary to connect Turkmen gas fields to the Southern Gas Corridor.

Earlier ORIENT reported that the Convention on the Caspian Sea legal status expected to be signed in the first half of this year. Establishment of the legal status will remove all barriers to the implementation of the project on supplying Turkmen natural gas to Europe via Caspian Sea.
