CIS customs authorities will strengthen the joint fight against counterfeit

The draft agreement on the interaction of the customs authorities of the CIS member states in the field of protection of intellectual property rights is planned to be considered on May 31 at a meeting of the Council of the Heads of Government of the Commonwealth countries in Ashgabat.

As the BelTA informs with reference to the Information and Analytical Department of the CIS Executive Committee, the agreement provides for the simplification of procedures for the interaction of customs authorities of the Commonwealth on the exchange of information to identify and prevent the circulation of counterfeit goods.

The agenda of the meeting of the heads of government raised the issues of developing a draft interstate program of innovative cooperation for the period until 2030. The new document will be a logical continuation of the previous program in this area, ending in 2020.

It is planned to sign an agreement on coordination of interstate relations in the field of basic scientific research by the heads of government of the CIS countries.

The Council will also consider changes and additions to the rules for determining the country of origin of goods in the CIS, in order of transit through the territories of the Commonwealth countries, etc.
