Turkmen mountaineers organized children’s rock-climbing festival in Ashgabat. On the training base of the city’s mountaineering club “Agama” the tracks were laid out on an artificial climbing wall, on which about fifty participants at the age of three to fourteen tested their strength.
The event was supported by the Children’s Fund of the Youth Union of Turkmenistan. Young participants enthusiastically climbed on a vertical wall, overcoming one route after another. As a result, each of them for the will and perseverance received a sweet prize from the organizers. Experienced climbers provided insurance and safety.
The festival is held regularly since 2006 and its first participants have already become prizewinners of the country’s championships in rock climbing. This sport is popular in the country. Competitions are held on artificial climbing walls in Ashgabat and Balkanabat, as well as on natural relief in the mountains of Kopetdag, the Great Balkhan and Koytendag.
Hundreds of Ashgabat residents and guests of the capital regularly try themself at the climbing stand, which became a visiting card of annual international exhibition on sports and education.
