Caspian Chess Championship kicks off in Iran

The 18th Caspian International Chess Championship with the participation of chess players from the countries of the region kicked off in Rasht city, Northern Iran, on Friday, the IRNA News Agency reports.

905 chess players from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Iran, Iraq, Russia, Turkey and Turkmenistan have registered to participate in the competition.

The competition was scheduled for February 12, 2020, but was delayed due to heavy snow in Northern Iran that blocked many of the roads in the province’s central city, Rasht.
