Bicameral parliament was established in Turkmenistan

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, chairing a session of the People’s Council of Turkmenistan, signed the Constitutional Law on Amendments and Addenda to the Constitution of Turkmenistan, which provides for the creation of a bicameral parliament in the country.

The head of state signed this document after its approval by the People’s Council and the Mejlis.

The Turkmen leader stressed that the adoption of the Constitutional Law of Turkmenistan is a grand historical event that will give a new impetus to country’s further development.

Thus, it can be assumed that Turkmenistan has carried out an important reform of the Turkmen parliamentary power and adopted a bicameral system in the structure of the parliament, like most of the developed countries in the world.
