President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the International Conference “The Caspian Sea: benefits of developing international economic cooperation”.
Welcoming all those present, the head of state thanked the foreign and local experts for the response to the invitation to participate in the First Caspian Economic Forum at the Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea and noted the effectiveness of bilateral and multilateral meetings held on August 10 and 11.
Development of the oil and gas sphere, efficient transport and logistics system, and expansion of international trade in the Caspian Sea are among the areas noted by president and actively discussed at the forum.
“We are all like-minded people, united by the understanding of the importance of a multifaceted and systemic dialogue on the development of the Caspian region, determining the prospects for international cooperation in the Caspian Sea”, said the head of state. “The new meaning of such a partnership, based on modern views and criteria, is intended to lay a solid foundation for the future joint creative work”.
The opening ceremony was also attended by representatives of the governments of the Caspian Five countries – Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Novruz Mammadov, First Vice-President of Iran Eshaq Jahangiri, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin and Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev. In addition, the prime ministers of Uzbekistan and Bulgaria – Abdulla Aripov and Boyko Borissov – were among high-ranking guests of the forum.
