Berdimuhamedov called for the uniform logistics and tariff policy by the Lapis Lazuli corridor

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov proposed to create the uniform logistics centre with participation of Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Afghanistan. The proposal was sounded at the video meeting of heads of three states-participants of the transport project of the Lapis Lazuli corridor which took place today.

According to the Turkmen leader, the Centre will allow to co-ordinate goods traffics and to raise efficiency of functioning of the corridor. Berdimuhamedov also drew the attention of his colleagues to seaport possibilities in Turkmenbashi, capable to provide solid volumes of transfer of transit cargoes.

Besides, the head of Turkmenistan proposed to co-ordinate the uniform tariff policy for cargo transportation by the route Afghanistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan and to simplify customs operations with mechanism introduction «single window», and also to develop the electronic atlas of the route Afghanistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan with the detailed information on it.

For working discussion of these and other issues Berdimuhamedov suggested to hold in the current month a video meeting of heads of corresponding sectors of three countries.

The President of Turkmenistan separately developed upon issues of cooperation in the field of telecommunications, considering that for today such large-scale projects as fibre-optical communication line of Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan and fibre-optical cable through the bottom of the Caspian sea from Turkmenbashi to Azerbaijani – Siazan are realized.

With their realisation conditions for formation of a new telecommunication bridge between Asia and Europe and an access to the extensive continental market of information services will be created. With that end in view Berdimuhamedov suggested to develop a format of tripartite cooperation on the basis of balance of interests and general problems of economic development.
