President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov allocated $10 million to the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan to strengthen the material-technical base and support the training of high-qualified scientists.
At the meeting held today at the Academy of Sciences, the head of state signed a Decree on financial support for the development of the science system of Turkmenistan.
In addition, a Decree on enhancement of efficiency of scientific-research activity in Turkmenistan as well as a Decree on establishment of intersectoral commission to ensure the efficiency of scientific research were signed.
To provide financial support of research activity in the country, the Fund for the Development of Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan has also been established.
Berdimuhamedov called on the scientific community to increase the role of science in the socio-economic development of the country, having identified particular areas such as the processing of organic and inorganic substances, minerals, hydrocarbon resources, the creation of new materials from local raw materials, agricultural fertilizers, breeding and pedigree activity etc.
