Belarus intends to intensify cooperation with Turkmenistan in the field of science

The President of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, Sapardurdy Toilyev, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to Turkmenistan, Oleg Tabanyukhov, agreed to expand contacts between scientific institutions of the two states in 2019.

They discussed current areas of cooperation in the field of science and new technologies, touched upon the development of such areas as petrochemistry, seismology, biotechnology, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and nanotechnology.

The parties noted the important role of the Intergovernmental Belarusian-Turkmen Commission on Science and Technology, founded in 2013 and participating in the expansion of scientific cooperation between the two countries.

The permanent participants of the commission’s meetings are representatives of the Technology Center at AST, who regularly visit Belarus to exchange experience with colleagues. Also, state scientific institutions of the Republic of Belarus serve as platforms for internships for the young generation of Turkmen scientists.

This year, representatives of the Technology Center are planning for the third time to take part in the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, which will be held in Minsk.
