Ashgabat to host international training camp for boxers

On 5-15 May, Turkmenistan Boxing Federation will host an international training camp in Ashgabat, linked to upcoming regional and world-scale sport events, says press release of Asian Boxing Confederation (ASBC).

Woman and men elite boxers from the Asian continent will have sparring and intense training physically and mentally as a part of preparations for the Asian games 2018, which will be hosted in August by the Indonesian capital Jakarta.

In the light of the active preparation for the Olympic Games “Tokyo 2020”, the Federation also expects to use the training camp as a platform for the exchange of experience between the coaches of participating teams.

Expenses related to accommodation of athletes in Ashgabat and meals will be covered by the Turkmen side. Attending federations only need to pay the transport and visa costs.

Following the results of the previous Asian games, which took place in September last year in Ashgabat, the Turkmen boxers became winners of 11 medals in discipline Thai Boxing. The national team of Turkmenistan is headed by the Olympic champion, World and European champion, honored master of sports Alexander Lebziak.
