Ashgabat Declaration on strategic economic cooperation in the CIS was adopted

Leaders of the CIS countries signed a Declaration on strategic economic cooperation of the CIS participant-states. Presenting this document at the meeting of the Council of CIS heads of states, held in Ashgabat, President Berdimuhamedov noted that it is intended to strengthening broad economic cooperation, effective use of the entire range of opportunities within the CIS.

The development of this Declaration, initiated by Turkmenistan, is caused by the fact that in modern conditions, an innovative approach is necessary to the development of economic ties, taking into account the realities existing in the global economy, said the President.

The main goals of such cooperation Berdimuhamedov called the growth of the economic potential of the Commonwealth and its integration into the world financial and economic space.

Among the key areas of this task solution, the head of state highlighted the development of industrial ties, joint projects in the fields of energy, industry, transport, trade, AIC, cooperation expansion in the field of finance and innovation, digital technologies.

The practical implementation of this Declaration will make it possible to use the potential of each of the Commonwealth countries, strengthen the positions of the CIS countries in the world economy.

Also addressing the summit of CIS heads of states, Berdimuhamedov proposed at the first meeting of the Economic Council in 2020 to consider a Joint Action Plan to enhance economic cooperation in the CIS. At the same time, he focused on the formation of energy, industrial, transport and trade corridors, connecting the Commonwealth states with world markets.
