Ashgabat and Baku launch implementation of agreements on trade and maritime transport

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a number of decrees approving the Turkmen-Azerbaijani documents signed on November 22, 2018 in Ashgabat. This includes agreements on cooperation in the field of industry, on long-term trade and economic cooperation, on the development of international maritime transport through the ports of the two countries, on cooperation between the Academies of Sciences of the two states, as well as the program of trade and economic cooperation for 2019 -2021 and the program of cooperation in the field of transport for 2019-2022.

The Government of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies and the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan are entrusted with the implementation of the relevant documents.

Also, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan has been instructed to inform the Turkmen government that Baku has completed the interstate procedures necessary for the documents to enter into force.

During the talks in the Turkmen capital of Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Ilham Aliyev in November 2018, breakthrough documents for bilateral relations were signed. The topic of shipping in the Caspian Sea using the ports of Turkmenbashi and Baku received particular development in the signed agreements.

According to experts, the package of documents signed on the basis of the Turkmen-Azerbaijani top-level talks in the Turkmen capital, has brought the partnership of Ashgabat and Baku to a qualitatively new level.
