Turkey supports the project of joint development by Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan oil and gas deposit of “Dostluk” in the Caspian Sea. It is said in the statement of The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey.
«We welcome signing of the Memorandum of mutual understanding between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan on joint investigation and working out of hydro carbonic resources of a deposit of” Dostluk »in the Caspian sea», – as said in the statement of the Turkish foreign policy department.
Ankara expressed hope that the agreement will strengthen friendship between the two countries, will benefit the fraternal people of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan will further strengthen well-being and stability in the region.
«We hope that the agreement will open a way for projects which will raise energy security of Turkey and Europe», – as is underlined in the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey.
Ankara is the consecutive supporter of realisation of the project on an access of Turkmen natural gas to energy markets of Turkey and Europe through the Caspian Sea and the Southern gas corridor. Many experts not without justification consider that the Turkmen-Azerbaijan development of the oil and gas deposit of “Dostluk” in the Caspian Sea will be the first step in connection of Turkmen gas resources to the Southern gas corridor.
Turkmenistan by gas reserves takes the fourth place in the world after Russia, Iran and Qatar.
